Saturday 7 October Caberfeidh 2 Boleskine 2
For this, our last league game of the season, the managers were able to field their strongest team in quite a while with nearly everyone available. We started the stronger and should have been a couple of goals ahead within the first quarter of an hour but a combination of near misses and good saves kept the score sheet blank . In the 27th minute Caberfeidh took the lead against the run of play and the rest of the first half was played out without either side creating much in the way of scoring opportunities. Five minutes after the interval the home side stretched their lead when they scored from close range and it looked like it was not going to be our day. However Andrew Young came on to replace the injured Raymond Robertson and almost immediately he pulled a goal back which was followed 3 minutes later by an equaliser from close in by Wallace Grant. Boleskine pressed hard in what was becoming an increasingly physical match and Scott Ferguson was unlucky to see a shot come back of the post in the last five minutes.
In the changing room after the match the players voted for player of the season and the winner will receive the trophy at the annual club dinner at the end of October.

Saturday 23 September Fort William 8 Boleskine 0
Boleskine travelled to Fort William without quite a few regulars, but managed to take the field with twelve players, no subs however were available. The home side have been scoring freely all season, so even at full strength this would have been a difficult match for ourselves. Fort William scored four goals in each half, but the tally could have been greater had it not been for a tremendous defensive display by our defenders. Special mention should be made of Peter Tinney for a string of outstanding saves. On a positive note the sun was shining and our younger players got to play a full 90 minutes which they enjoyed.

Saturday 2 September Boleskine 2 Skye Camanachd 5
Boleskine for the second week running due to work and injuries had to rely heavily on youth, fielding six U16 during the match . After a relatively even opening period the visitors took the lead in twenty minutes due to a long ball that bounced of our fullback and past the keeper. Ten minutes later Skye made it two and just before the break added a third . Boleskine's predominantly young forward line were battling well but unable to get sustained pressure, to threaten the visitors defence . Within two minutes of the restart Skye put the result beyond doubt, when following good crisp passing interchange one of their forwards was at hand on the edge of the D to blast the ball high into the net . Boleskine with a substitution and positional changes came more in the game and in fifty eight minutes Lewis Smith scored with good shot from thirty yards . Eight minutes later Skye restored their four goals advantage and the days scoring was concluded in the seventieth minute, when a low Lewis Smith shot found the net via the post. A better second half performance against an almost full strength Skye team in our last home match of the season
Saturday 26 August Newtonmore 5 Boleskine 0
With 8 first choice players unavailable with work commitments and injuries Boleskine fielded a team with a very young forward line.. The home side led 2-0 at half-time, and the score would have been greater but for a fine performance by Peter Tinney in the Boleskine goal. The Boleskine forwards had very few chances, but linked up well on occasions. Newtonmore scored a further 3 times in the second half, and our cause wasn't helped when David Higham had to leave the field with a leg injury. Despite losing our youngsters will have gained valuable experience from this match, which will stand them in good stead for the future. This weeks reporter Alex Fraser
Saturday 29 July Lochaber six a sides
Boleskine entered two teams in the Joe Toal memorial six a side competition, the A team results were:- won one , lost one and drawn one , whilst the B team drew one and lost two. Both teams did not qualify for the later stages of the competition.
Saturday 22 July Skye 2 Boleskine 0
Skye started by far the brighter team and made it count when they scored with a shot from a wide angle on six minutes. The game got even harder for Boleskine when Garry Mclennan was ordered off the field of play. Just before half time Skye scored a second and Boleskine looked to be doomed to going home with no points. After the break Boleskine battled well but it was to hard with a man down. The final score was 2 0 to Skye This weeks reporter Simon Fraser
Saturday 15 July Boleskine 2 Kingussie 2
Boleskine after the opening few minutes settled down and began to take the game to the visitors, were rewarded in the seventeenth minute when a Wayne Grant shot deceived the keeper to open the scoring . Twelve minutes later Lewis Smith made it two with a long shot following good work by David Fraser on the right. Kingussie responded with a goal in the thirty fifth minute and that was the score when half time was called ,with Boleskine fully deserving their one goal advantage . After resumption of play Boleskine continued their good form with the every department holding their own, but in the sixty third minute team captain Garry Maclennan sustained a thigh injury resulting in team reshuffle with Garry now on the D. We lost some of our fluency after this setback, however the boys were still holding there own and had the better of the scoring opportunities . Just when it looked as though we had weathered the storm and we were going to get two points for the second week running, Kingussie scored the equaliser during injury time, leaving only just time for the through up . An excellent display by the team who were short of some regulars but the youngsters filled in admirably , the cruellest of luck at the end just when it looked as though we had the two points that our overall play deserved .
Saturday 8 July Boleskine 4 Strathglass 0
In a fairly even first period with Boleskine playing against the wind it wasn't till the twenty second minute that there was any scoring, when a free hit awarded to the home side found David Higham and his shot confused the visitors defence and keeper to find the net . One minute after the break Raymond Robertson found space on the edge of the D and dispatched a low shot into the net to settle the Boleskine team. With a two goal cushion secured, confidence began to show in our play and after several close calls, in sixty one minutes Raymond Robertson burst through the middle of the Strathglass defence with the ball and slipped it past the advancing keeper . Seventeen minutes later following good interchange play on the left hand side, the resulting cross was met by David Higham whose good low shot made it four . Boleskine had the better of the second half, playing some lovely creative forward shinty which had the Strathglass keeper coming to his sides rescue on numerous occasions . A good all round team display, with the defence holding firm in the first half laying the foundations for the teams performance and result, which delighted the home support after the last two midweek games in which we had played well, but with no reward for our efforts .

Tuesday 4 July Boleskine 1 Kilmallie 4
In this fixture originally scheduled for 7th October at Corpach, Kilmallie relinquished home advantage to bring forward this league game as it was beneficial to both clubs to get it played early.
Boleskine with a couple of players unavailable found themselves down by two goals to nil at half time . In the second period Kilmallie added another two, before Boleskine got a consolation goal through Lewis Smith .
Saturday 1 July Inverness six a sides
Boleskine reached the knockout stages of the Jubilee shield as one of the two second place qualifiers, being the top second place team overall in all sections. In the first game we defeated Beauly courtesy of a David Higham goal, Aberdeen University in the second from a Lewis Smith strike and a no scoring draw against Lochcarron in a game which we had the better of the scoring opportunities . This resulted with us being level with Lochcarron on five points but they took the section on goal difference and we went through as a second place qualifier . In the quarter final we narrowly went down by two goals to one against Glen Urquhart with Lewis Smith scoring our counter .
Wednesday 28 June Boleskine 2 Fort William 4
In this rearranged fixture Boleskine drew first blood when Lewis Smith fired a good shot from thirty yards high into the net, however a minute later Fort William equalised following a save by Keith Nicholson in the Boleskine goals, the visitors were first to the rebound and the scores were level. The league leaders in the fifteenth minute took the lead following a mix up in the home defence to score from close in, the remainder of the half the game was evenly matched with end to end play, but no further scoring . Six minutes into the second period referee John Sloggie sent the Fort William mentor, former Foyers man Billy Anderson over the rope for his persistent encroachment onto the field of play, much to the bemusement of the assembled spectators .It was a very open half with end to end play, in which both defences playing well and limiting scoring opportunities. Fort William missed a great opportunity to increase their lead when they were awarded a penalty in the eightieth minute, the resulting hit was well over the top . Boleskine took heart from this and following a free hit in which the keeper saved the resulting shot, Garry Maclennan was on hand to net the rebound. The home side went all out for the winner but disaster struck in the ninety first minute when a long range low shot from the visitors found the net and two minutes later they scored again to put the result beyond doubt. A very disappointing result in a game which we more than matched the championship favourites, a draw would have been a very fair result for all the effort and endeavour the team displayed on the night .
Saturday 17 June Lovat 7 Boleskine 1
In a first period best forgotten, riddled with slack defensive play found Boleskine seven goals in deficit as the referee blew to call a halt to the half. On resumption of play this time with the wind in our favour we countered with a goal in the fiftieth minute when Davie Gillies scored, from just outside the D following some concerted pressure by Boleskine . We territorially had the edge in the second period but were unable to find the net during the remainder of the half .
Saturday 10 June Strathglass 1 Boleskine 2
Strathglass led 1-0 at the interval after a first half which had been totally dominated by a Boleskine side which just could not get the ball in the net despite numerous chances. However in the 68th minute Wallace Grant held of two defenders to bring the scores level. Boleskine took the lead 3 minutes later after the ball ended up in the net following a long shy from Gary Maclennan. That concluded the scoring and we returned home with our first away victory of the season. This weeks reporter Simon Fraser
Saturday 3 June Boleskine 1 Skye 5
Skye ended Boleskine’s interest in cup competitions this season at Farr today, after the home team with several key players missing had had the better of opening exchanges. Skye took the lead in the twenty first minute after good individual work by the only girl on the park Sarah Corrigal whose shot found the net. Two minutes later the visitors made it two although Boleskine had several good shots on target after that, they found the Skye custodian in top form and there was no more scoring till half time. Boleskine stepped up the pressure after half time and had several near calls in front of goal, but it was the visitors who went further ahead the 67th minute. Six minutes later Sandy Fraser gave the home support some hope, when he scored his first goal in the adult team after good determined play to score from close range. That hope was extinguished four minutes later when Skye restored their three-goal advantage and added a fifth just at the end. Though we had as much as a play and possibly more than the visitors whose goalkeeper was in tremendous form, it was a case of early defensive lapses and ability to converting our outfield play into goals that cost us over the piece, leaving us now to concentrate fully on league competition.

Saturday 27 May Boleskine 2 Lovat 0
Boleskine gained their first league win of the season today at a wet and windy Smith Park. Playing against the wind in the first half they had the edge and created the better of the opening’s in front of goal, but the old failing a of not taking their chances was evident again. Just prior to half-time the heavens opened and the driving rain caused only a few hardly spectators to stay and watch , whilst the rest headed for the shelter and warmth of their car’s . Six minutes after the break Gary MacLennan broke the deadlock with a stunning first-time drive from the left side twenty five yards out high into the net, it was a goal that was deserved on the overall play and emphasises the profitability of first time shooting. In the sixty third minute Lewis Smith made it two with a low drive from outside the D, this concluded the scoring for the day. Boleskine controlled the game till the end but could not convert the further chances that came their way, a hearting team performance with the three midfield players outstanding.
Saturday 20 May Boleskine 1 Caberfiedh 2
The first half play was fairly even with both teams creating chances, but with both defences holding firm it took some outstanding persistent individual play from Paddy Bryden on the left side of the D, resulting in him scoring from an acute angle in the forty fourth minute to separate the teams at half time . Two minutes into second period Caberfiedh equalised through Robert Bartlett and the same player put the visitors ahead three minutes later to conclude the scoring for the day. Both teams had scoring opportunities in the remaining forty minutes and it was only through brilliant goal keeping by Peter Tinney, that Boleskine were still looking for the equaliser at the end. A disappointing result after we had started the game so well, once again we lacked the cutting edge in front of goals .
Saturday13 May Boleskine 3 Kinlochshiel 1 Sutherland Cup
Boleskine against the wind in the first half had more of the play, but could not convert our good outfield play into goals, though we had close calls around the visitors goal the first half remained goalless. Five minutes after the restart Kinlochshiel broke the deadlock through Alister Macrae, on finding himself in space at the right side of the D gave the Boleskine keeper no chance with a low shot. Boleskine hit back in the fifty six minute when wing centre Andrew Young's long shot from forty yards deceived the keeper to put us back in the game . The result could have went either way from then on with Boleskine having the edge on pressure but Kinlochshiel were always dangerous and Peter Tinney in the home goals had to be alert on several occasions . In the seventh fifth minute Boleskine substitute Lewis Smith hit the post and nine minutes later from thirty yards, a good shot from the same player put us ahead for the first time. Kinlochshiel never gave up in their search for an equaliser and it was only in the final minute through a brilliant individual goal from Wallace Grant , who broke through the advancing visitors defence, ran on with the ball for twenty yards, slotting it home from just within the D that victory was assured. A good well contested sporting cup tie ,who's outcome was only decided in the last quarter , with the Boleskine play much improved from the previous week .
Saturday 6 May Boleskine 1 Kilmallie 7
Apart from the opening minutes Boleskine never got going during the first half . After Kilmallie had scored in the eighth minute, our defence struggled to contain their eager forwards to no avail and by half time they were leading by six goals to nil . The second period was much more even as we began to have an equal share of the play, only two goals were scored in this period, Kilmallie in the fifty ninth minute and Boleskine a minute later by Wallace Grant after persistent play carried the ball into the box to score from close in. Not the best result in light of our forth coming Sutherland cup match next week, but the more spirited display after half time gave us some optimism also a promising debut from Kevin Hepburn.
Saturday 29 April Kingussie 6 Boleskine 0 Strathdearn Cup
Boleskine hopes took an early blow when Lewis Smith was crocked in the opening minutes and had a further set back in five minutes when Kingussie opened the scoring from a free hit. Seven minutes later the home side doubled their advantage by scoring from close in, we had had a fair percentage of the overall play but the old failing of scoring goals was evident . In the forty second minute Kingussie scored to lead three goals to nil at the break , on resumption of play straight from the through up they scored to make it four. Boleskine a minute later had the opportunity to pull one back , but Raymond Robertson's penalty strike was well saved by the goalkeeper. Midway through the half Kingussie Martin Gennini sent off and Boleskine's Davie Gillies was also sent off for alleged retaliation to the incident . Kingussie scored again in the eighty first and second minutes to run out winners by six goals to nil to end our interest in the Strathdearn cup.
Saturday 22 April Glengarry 3 Boleskine 1
Boleskine against the wind and driving rain had the better of the first half, but on the whistle to signal the end play for that period found themselves two goals down to a Garry side that defended well and scored in the twelfth and fifteenth minutes during some of the few raids on the visitors goal they had. In the second half we again had more possession, however in sixty fifth minutes with Keith Nicholson the Boleskine keeper lying prone inside the D following a challenge, Glengarry increased their lead . Four minutes later a Lewis Smith low drive from twenty five yards opened the Boleskine scoring , but to no avail as Glengarry held on to take the points . Resolute defending and an object lesson in goal scoring by the Glengarry forwards had won the day in a match which Boleskine dominated for long periods .
Saturday 15 April Boleskine 3 Strathglass1 Strathdearn Cup
Strathglass with the strong wing in their favour were first to show when they hit the post in the tenth minute, it was overall a fairly even first half with both teams having chances, but with defences clearing their lines well it remained a draw going in at half time . Two minutes after the break, Wallace Grant eluded his marker and from the edge of the D his low shot found the net to score his first goal for Boleskine . Five minutes later following a spell of concerted Boleskine pressure, Lewis Smith from wide on the left near the bye line, struck a brilliant shot high into the net to make it two. In the seventy third minute, from a high shot by Neil Fraser well saved by the Strathglass keeper, Wallace Grant pounced onto the rebound to secure his brace . Strathglass pulled a goal back in the eighty second minute through a penalty converted by Michael Stokes, which Boleskine keeper James Fraser managed to get contact with but could not stop the ball entering the net. Boleskine progressed into the next round of the Strathdearn where they will face Kingussie away with a good all round team performance after a break of two weeks .
Saturday 25 March Boleskine 0 Newtonmore 5
Boleskine with some enforced changes from last weeks line up, took time to settle which Newtonmore capitalised on to lead by three goals to nil after nineteen minutes, a Colin Stewart brace and an Ackie Macrae strike . Some positional changes in the Boleskine formation gave us a better balance with the team having much more of the game, however Colin Stewart completed his hat trick in forty one minutes . In the second period Boleskine matched Newtonmore better but were unable to get very many shots on target and it was Newtonmore who completed the scoring with a shot in seventy five minutes. Today , was again a steep learning curve for Boleskine's seven U18 that were involved in the game .
Saturday 18 March Boleskine 1 Glengarry 1
Boleskine gained their first point of the season with a hard fought draw against the more experienced Glengarry team , whom we have not played for several years . After a fairly even opening period Glengarry went ahead in thirty five minutes, when Steven Cameron broke through the Boleskine defence to score from close in. At the half time whistle the score remained the same with both defences being on top. In fifty minutes Boleskine were level when Andrew Young latched on loose ball twenty five yards out and his great drive went high into the net to equalise .The turning point of the game came fifteen minutes from the end when Graeme Black was sent off for his second alleged bookable offence. With a man short Boleskine were up against it, but the defence resolutely held on with goalkeeper Peter Tinney outstanding to secure the point . A good result for the young Boleskine team that fielded six U18 during the game.
Saturday 10 March Kingussie 5 Boleskine 0
Boleskine opened their 2006 league in artic temperatures at the Dell with the ice cold wind in their favour, however it was the home side who drew first blood in eighteen minutes and on the stroke of half time scored again to lead two nil. Kingussie had far more possession in the first half and were deserving of their lead going into the break . The home team restarted the game with bang when they scored a third in the forty sixth minute and on the hour mark added another. For the next fifteen minutes or so it was Boleskine against the wind that had the better of the game , pinning the home team back into their half but could not open their account and it was Kingussie that completed the scoring in the eighth minute . Boleskine's young team had battled gamely till the end without scoring, which their play over the piece merited in a cold Kingussie, on the first game of new summer shinty season, which was a lot milder than a couple of miles down the road at the Eilen, as the two worthies who ventured there after our game can testify once they thaw out .
Saturday 25 Feb Boleskine 2 Inverness2
Boleskine completed there pre-season build up games with a visit to Farr by near neighbours Inverness, playing against the wind it was the visitors who opened the scoring in 11minutes through Kenneth Loads . Boleskine had plenty of play in the first period but could not break through the Inverness rear guard. After half time it was Inverness who increased their lead through Allan Ross in sixty six minutes and seemed to be in control of the game . However as time progressed Boleskine against the wind began to assert themselves and after several near calls, it was no surprise when persistent play by Garry Maclennan grabbed their opener in eighty minutes . Five minutes later Lewis Smith with a low shot from twenty yards, made it two a piece . There was no further scoring in the time remaining , a good last workout before the season proper starts next week . The younger Boleskine players are progressing well each week as more demands are put on them, due to injuries and availability due to work commitments of senior players .
Saturday 18 Feb Boleskine 3 Kinlochshiel 5
Kinlochshiel opened the scoring in the third minute with a great thirty yard drive from Neil Fraser , but Boleskine even matters five minutes later when Garry Maclennan long shot from the centre line found the net. The visitors then scored twice before twenty five minutes, through Ian Campbell and Alistair Macrae before Lewis Smith pulled one back with a low shot in the thirty seventh minute . Kinlochshiel's Allan Macdiarmid restored their two goals cushion on the stroke of half time with a shot from the left . In the second period Boleskine overall had the better of the play , cheered on by some good vocal support from the sidelines, they went close on numerous occasions but it wasn't till the eighty fifth minute they scored through a brilliant individual goal from Andrew Young from thirty yards. The lads from the west had the last word, when they scored again in injury time, another sporting game with Boleskine possible deserving a draw on the second half performance.
Saturday 11 Feb Boleskine 0 Newtonmore 7
In the match for the Boleskine Challenge Cup, Newtonmore with the strong wind in their favour in the first half, were soon on the ascendancy and scored two goals in the first seventeen minutes by Ross Aitken . By the end of the half they added another two, courtesy of Ewen Menzies , Boleskine had a few opportunities but could not make any breakthrough in this period . After halftime Boleskine came more into the game, but it was Ewen Menzies with a sixty third minute goal to completed his hat-trick, who opened the scoring in this period . The wind had dropped and the play was fairly even but Newtonmore completed the scoring through Owen Fraser and Ackie Macrae before the end . Boleskine had battled well and were unlucky not to score on several occasions , whilst Newtonmore had taken their chances and the outcome showed in the result . Boleskine president Peter Macdonald presented the Cup to the winning Newtonmore captain and medals to his team .
Saturday 4 Feb Boleskine 2 Glenurquhart 2
Boleskine in their second warm up match for season 2006 against Glenurquhart ,fielded a very young team with up to seven teenagers on the park at one time. However it was the Glen that impressed first with their more experienced side, forcing Boleskine back into defence and it was no surprise when they opened the scoring in nine minutes through a thirty yard lob from Ally Macintosh. Glenurquhart went two up in the thirty first minute when Neil Macintosh scored from inside the D , on reflection of the play their two goal lead was deserved as the half came to a close. After half time the play was more even, as the youthful Boleskine side starting to find their feet ,adjusting to the pace of the match and the longer the game went on the more they came into the game . In the seventy third minute Boleskine's Ewen Macdonald joined that rare group of Shinty players, when he scored direct from a corner to cut the deficit to a goal. Nine minutes later the sides were equal, when Lewis Smith dribbled past a couple of opponents and sent a twenty five yard shot high into the net . Boleskine forced the pace till the end but could not find the winner, a good sporting game played in relatively mild weather after the spell of hard frost .
Saturday 28 Jan Boleskine Veterans 3 Boleskine Present 2
The Brian Stoddart & Donald Macgruer Memorial Cup game was the opening match of the 2006 season, the cup was last contested for in 20003 with the youngsters victorious by six goals to one . The veterans gave notice of there intentions early on when Joey Smith playing at buckshee forward instead of his customary full back role scored with a rocket shot from thirty five yards in the second minute. The play was fairly evenly matched in term of possession as the half progressed with the veterans experience and good use of the ball compensating against the youngsters fitness and eagerness. However the equaliser came in seventeen minutes when Raymond Robertson scored from close in and in the thirty second minute Lewis Smith with a good shot put the present team in front . The veterans doggedly soldiered on sticking to their game plan of fooling the youngsters that they were out on there feet and it paid dividends on the stroke of half time when Robert Henderson made it two all. It was generally accepted by the spectators that the veterans would be up against it in the second period as the fitness of the present team would have an even greater effect the longer the game went on . This assumption looked to be coming to pass, but with resolute defending and determination the veterans managed to keep their goal intact , also when they did eventually break up field, made the best use of the limited chances . It was from one of there rare excursions that guest player Kenneth Loads in the seventy eights minute scored with a long drive from thirty yards to win the cup .The present team had more of the play and certainly the bulk of the chances after half time, but the four fathers will be showing and boasting to their sons about the day they won the silver medals and the issue got the bronze ones for quite some time . The Cup was presented to veterans captain Joey Smith and medals to both teams by Billy Stoddart the brother of Brian Stoddart . Best player for the veterans was Duncan Macdonald and for the present was Neil Fraser.
