Saturday 8 Oct    Boleskine 3  Aberdeen University 4

Boleskine played their final game of the second trial season of summer shinty against champion elect  Aberdeen. The visitor with the wind in their favour had the better of the first period and opened their account in thirty five minutes through Steven Mackenzie. Two minutes after the break Aberdeen again scored but within a minute Raymond Robertson pulled one back with a shot from the left.,. In sixty five minutes Aberdeen restored their two goal advantage and six minutes later from good Boleskine build up Lewis Smith scored following a through slip pas from Raymond Robertson . Aberdeen once again restored their two goal cushion in the eighty third minute and despite Boleskine best efforts that was the way the result appeared to be heading  , until in the final minute Lewis Smith received the ball, made room for himself and sent a great shot from thirty five yards high into the net . Again a good performance from Boleskine against a team of greater experience with a bit of fortune we could have secures a draw or even a win.   Congratulations to Sutherland Cup winner's Aberdeen who proved worthy champions over the season and best of luck in North  Div 1 next year . Black marks to the Cam Ass on their decision , relayed  to the Aberdeen team forty minutes prior to the game commencing, that they would not be sending a representative the eight miles up to Farr , to present on the field of play the league trophy as previously intimated , but to make their way to the Bught  to get the cup and medals . Would a senior team Kingussie, Fort William etc be treated like this,  I leave the answer for your own common sense to reply , just remember any team that cannot fulfil a fixture on the date set, they forfeit the game,  but the Ass don't apply the rule to themselves when it comes to their obligations .

Saturday 27 Aug   Kincraig 0 Boleskine 8

Boleskine posted there intentions early against an under strength Kincraig when Craig Pirrie opened the scoring in five minutes, and ten minutes later the same player released a through ball to Lewis Smith to make it two from close range . Midway through the half a Donald Kennedy cutback  found an unmarked Lewis Smith on the edge of the D who made no mistake to make it three nil .Five minutes before the break from a Lewis Smith pass Craig Pirrie, drifted passed his defender and lashed the ball into the net for his second. In fifty minutes after a good five player passing interchange , the ball came to James Fraser who scored his first ever goal with a good shot from the right . Two minutes later after good work by Lawrence  Parrot ,whose high pass was collected by Lewis Smith and the resulting shot completed his hat trick.  In sixty three minutes James Fraser got his brace from close in and seven minutes later substitute Peter Macdonald showed great anticipation as he met and volleyed a mid air ball into the net with a blistering shot. to complete the scoring . A good overall team display with the youngsters gaining a more confidence each game , an impressive debut from Lawrence Parrot at wing centre.

 Thursday 11 August    Lovat  2 Boleskine  2

In this evenings game with a 7.15 throw-up Boleskine got of to a great start when Craig Pirrie fired high into the net in the third minute.

The match then flowed from end to end with both sides having scoring chances; with Keith Nicholson in our goals producing a string of spectacular saves.

In the 34 min the home side levelled and it remained 1-1 until 10 minutes into the second half when Lovat went ahead. In 63min Lewis
Smith drilled home a shot from a Craig Pirrie pass and from then until the end of the game Boleskine put the home defence under sustained pressure ,

but were not able to find the net again as the light faded. All in all in was an excellent performance by all our players in what was a very entertaining match
(Guest reporter this match week  :- Ali Fraser)

Saturday 6 August    Kincraig v Boleskine

Today's game was cancelled by the Camanachd Ass, reason  no referee available .Cam Ass moved allocated ref for game Neil Ferguson to an other scheduled fixture on Thursday and could not provide a replacement ref .     mmmh I smell haddock, common knowledge for the last week that Kincraig were unable to raise team due to a players wedding.

Saturday 29 July    Boleskine   WO  Skye Scr

Today's game against Skye at Smith park was cancelled,  Skye scratched as they were unable to field a team due to transport problems.

Saturday   16 July     Fort William 1 Boleskine 0

Boleskine with a youthful line up had a close game against their more experienced opponent at an Aird, going down by one goal to nil . With Keith Nicholson in great form in goals, Garry Maclennan playing a captains In defence , Wayne Grant in outstanding form in the centre and Lewis Smith in sparkling form up front,  they coached the the three youngsters  through their debut's   .  A good all round team performance with a lot a of endeavour showing through and with a bit of luck, we may have taken something from our visit to Lochaber area.

.

Saturday   2 July    Inverness 6 a sides

Boleskine lost there first group game against Lovat by one goal to nil , defeated  Kilmallie B by one goal to nil , lost three nil against Kinlochshiel A, and in the final league game against Lochcarron we lost by one goal to nil, finishing  our interest in the main competition . However in the Rosdene shield  (four team consolation trophy  ) we defeated Kinlochshiel B in the first game by one goal to nil , in the final game against Skye we lost by two goals to nil.

Saturday   18 June     Skye V Boleskine

Boleskine unable to raise team due to Holidays + work commitments  we had to scratch and the points were awarded to Skye .This was a re-scheduled fixture that was previously postponed due to lack of a referee by the Camanachd Association, .

Saturday 11  June     Boleskine 5 Lochcarron 2

With both teams fielding different line ups from their previous encounter, the opening exchanges were fairly even until twenty five minutes when Lewis Smith broke the deadlock with a a shot from just outside the circle .Ten minutes later from a Ewen Macdonald pass, Raymond Robertson made it two with a shot from twenty yards. Boleskine created several more openings before half time, but the period ended with no more scoring . Straight from the throw up to commence the second half, Lochcarron went on the attack and pulled one back within a minute.  Boleskine responded to this setback in forty nine minutes, when a Lewis Smith shot was saved by the Lochcarron keeper and Raymond Robertson nipped in to tap home the rebound .  In fifty four minutes from a James Fraser through pass, Lewis Smith evaded the Lochcarron defence to make it four. Lochcarron cut the deficit to two goals with a great shot from thirty five yards high into the net leaving the Boleskine keeper Peter Macdonald helpless . Raymond Robertson completed his hat-trick four minutes later after being put through by Lewis Smith, he retained his composure to pass the ball into the net . Good all round team performance from the blend of experience and youth, to gain our first league points in almost two months  .

Saturday 14  May     Fort William  4 Boleskine 0

The opening exchanges were even but when Fort William scored two quick goals through Bobby MacMillian in the 9th minute and John wood in the 12th minute, it was always going to be an uphill struggle for Boleskine.  In the remainder of the first half the Boleskine forward line did receive a reasonable amount of the ball, but found it difficult to win and then retain possession. The second half started like the first with the away team conceding another two early goals in the 46th minute  and the 51st minute with John Wood completing his hat trick.  Although four goal down Boleskine battered on showing good team spirit and resolve. In the final quarter of the game Boleskine played some of their best shinty, creating some good goal scoring chances and were unlucky not  to get something. Over all Fort William were worthy winners but Boleskine with several young and inexperienced players in the team can be proud of a spirited performance. (Guest reporter this week  :- Peter Macdonald )

Saturday 7   May   League     Boleskine 0  Newtonmore 6

Boleskine started brightly and created several openings but it was Newtonmore who opened the scoring in fourteen minutes.  Boleskine forced the away keeper into two great saves a minute later to no avail and by half time were three down , we had an  equal share of the game, but any time we managed to break through the Newtonmore defence we found their keeper in unbeatable form . The second period  was more of the same, creating chances but unable to put the finishing touch in our good lead up work, whilst  Newtonmore found the way through another three times . The team overall played well, with some players coping well with new positions on the field , just looking for a bit of luck in front of goal, to kick start the team back to early season form .

Saturday 30 April    League    Lochcarron 2  Boleskine 1

Boleskine with several personal changes and the wind in their favour had the better of the first period  but had only a one goal advantage to show at half time. The goal scored  in 33 minutes, a Raymond Robertson flick was picked up by Lewis Smith on the left bye line, who doubled back beating his opponent and sending  a crisp shot into the net from twenty yards. Lochcarron started the second half strongly and equalised in fifty minutes , seven minutes later they broke through again and took the lead . Boleskine rallied after these setbacks and created several chance but the Lochcarron kept them at bay and there was no more scoring during the game . A good sporting game well handled by referee Ronnie Campbell, which a draw would have been a fairer reflection on the game.

Saturday 23 April    Strathdearn Cup 1st  round  Inverness 1 Boleskine 4

Boleskine had the best of the first period with good flowing shinty , but for all their pressure found goals hard to come by and lead at the Interval; by a Raymond Robertson strike in thirty two minutes . One minute after the break Raymond Robertson made it two with a shot from the left , Inverness came back to shock the visitors with a goal in sixty five minutes . Straight from the resulting throw up, Boleskine attacked and Lewis Smith restored the two goal advantage with goal from close in . Four minutes later a good Lewis Smith shot from the left which the goalkeeper saved well,  Raymond Robertson pounced on the loose  ball to complete his hat trick  and finish the scoring for the day.

Saturday 16 April    League     Boleskine 5 Lovat 1

Boleskine were quick out of the blocks, when in five minutes Lewis Smith open his account for the day, with a shot from thirty yards that beat the Lovat keeper. Lewis again scored in twenty minutes when he beat the defender to make room for himself to score from inside the semi-circle. Straight from the through up the young  Lovat  side attacked and Boleskine keeper Keith Nicholson pulled of two outstanding saves, to maintain his sides two goal advantage . On twenty seven minutes Raymond Robertson latched on to a through pass and his shot crossed the line to make it three.   Fourteen minutes later Wayne Grant with a deceptive drive from twenty five yards out on the left side completed the scoring for the first half.  In fifty one minutes a Mike Pirrie short lob, was well anticipated by Raymond Robertson,  who nipped in to score his second of the day. The very young Lovat team who had played well up to this point with no success for their undoubted ability , came more to the game as the second half progressed. The Boleskine defence with Ali Urquhart outstanding were well stretched to contain them and in eighty two minutes, the Boleskine keeper again had to pulled off a point  blank save to deny them . However four minutes later Lovat's Jamie Matheson scored with a cracking drive to give the visitors a well earned consolation goal .

Saturday  9 April    League    Aberdeen University 4 Boleskine 2

Playing against the strong wind in the first half , Boleskine failed to weather the the early Aberdeen pressure and found themselves three down in fifteen minutes. and that's the way the score remained till  half time.    Boleskine did not have the advantage of the wind after the break as it strength had dropped considerably and it was Aberdeen who struck first  fifty three minutes to make it four goals to nil.     However Boleskine came more into the game and a Lewis Smith brace in sixty five & seventy one minutes gave us hope of returning north with at least a point.  Boleskine dominated the game in the last twenty minutes, but could not score again to complete the comeback .

Saturday  2 April    League    Boleskine 5  Kincraig 0

Boleskine opened the scoring in ten minutes when Raymond Robertson pounced on a rebound from a save by the Kincraig keeper to drive home the ball.  In thirty third minute, Lewis Smith twenty yards out on the right with a low drive made it two and the same player, six minutes after the break scored with a shot high into net from the edge of the circle. Wayne Grant made it four in seventy two minutes with a net-bound shot, the keeper got his stick to but could not keep the ball out .Two minutes later Raymond Robertson completed the scoring with a very similar goal, a good performance in difficult circumstances after our break of two weeks .

Saturday 12 March League    Boleskine 4  Fort William 1

Fort William posted there intentions early in this match with a cracking drive in the first minute from thirty yards, that brought out an outstanding save from Keith Nicholson in the Boleskine goals, and it was only stalwart defending and superb goalkeeping that kept the home goal in tack early on.  Boleskine opened the scoring in twenty five minutes, with a shot on the bounce from Lewis Smith, following an excellent three player passing interchange. From the resulting throw up Boleskine pressed forward again and within a minute a Wayne Grant shot from fifteen yards had made it two nil to the home team. By half time Steve Munro had made it three nil, when five minutes before the break he eluded his marker to score from the edge of the circle.   In the fifty six minute Raymond Robertson latched on to a through pass from Steve  Munro  to score from an acute angle . Fort William came back into the game more and in sixty five minutes scored from a penalty , they were awarded another penalty later on, but Keith Nicholson pulled off a great diving save to thwart Ricky Fraser his second goal of the day . An other good team performance from Boleskine on a  cold day of  intermittent hail and snow showers .

Saturday 5 March League  Newtonmore 1  Boleskine 4

Boleskine got their league programme of to the the best of starts when in the second minute Steve Munro pounced on a mix up in the Newtonmore defence to score from two feet.  Playing with the wind at their backs Boleskine had plenty of the play but couldn't convert there good outfield play into goals and on forty minutes Newtonmore scored to level the match. On forty four minute Boleskine were awarded a penalty following a kick inside the box, the resulting strike was put wide of the goal, however a minute later Lewis Smith scored with a good shot from the left.

Ten minutes into the second half Boleskine increased their lead, when Lewis Smith scored after good leading up teamwork, and a minute later got his hat trick with a fine solo run, through the middle of the Newtonmore defence to score from ten yards. That ended the scoring for the day ,an excellent team performance from Boleskine's mix of youth and experienced players, with every department of the team working together to ensure victory.

Saturday 19 Feb Friendly   Boleskine 2 Fort William 6

On a cold winter afternoon amid frequent snow flurries Boleskine met Fort William in our second friendly of the season, the visitors took the lead in the fifteenth minute, but on the twenty seventh minute Lewis Smith finished of a three player passing movement to square the game . In thirty five minutes the Fort again scored from a well hit long shot, two minutes before half time Lewis Smith pounced on a rebound of the keeper to make it two all. Due to an injury to long serving full back Joey Smith, Boleskine made several changes and also  to ensure all the substitutes had a decent run out, at the start of the second half. Unfortunately by the time the team had adjusted Fort William had hit the net four times in the next twenty two minutes and that concluded all the scoring for the game . Boleskine came more into the game in the final twenty minutes but could not break through the resolute Fort William defence, a good run out for all the players in preparation for season start in two weeks time.

Saturday 5 Feb Friendly   Boleskine 1 Lochcarron 4

On the first friendly of the season for the new summer season at a snowy Smith Park, Lochcarron took the lead halfway through the the first period and by forty five minutes were leading by two goals to nil . The second period saw Lochcarron increase their lead before Steve Munro pulled one back, however a late goal from the visitors resulted in a win for them by four goals to one . In a good sporting game played in extremely difficult conditions underfoot with frequent sleet showers making good hitting almost imposable, Lochcarron deserved their victory but the Boleskine team competed well and were unfortunate not to narrow the score on a few occasions .

Saturday 11 Dec Boleskine Challenge Cup   Boleskine 1 Glenurquhart 4

Glenurquhart had the better of the opening period ,scoring midway through the half to lead by one goal to nil at half time . Three minutes into the second half, Lewis Smith equalised with a low shot from twenty five yards. Boleskine had the ascendancy at this point but could not turn their pressure into goals and it was the Glen who scored again and went on to run out worthy winners by four goals to one.  Boleskine with a mixture of experienced and U14 players, (playing their second match of the day)  had battled well but Glenurquhart had the better of us on this occasion . Peter Macdonald presented the cup to the Glenurquhart captain and both teams received medals to mark the occasion.
