    Boleskine U12 at Blairbeg Drumnadrochit

Back L-R Fraser Macpherson Anne Butterworth, Daniel Calid, Mark Thompson

On Sep 22 at Blairbeg Drumnadrochit in the the final round of the Aird  league first game, Boleskine had a no scoring against Beauly . The next mach was also a draw one a piece against Tomnacross.  Tarradale were our opponents in the third match, the result being an other no scoring draw and in the final match we went down to Glenurquhart by two goals to nil. The team contested the games well and gave a good account of themselves, they  were unfortunate not to score more goals on the night , their solitary strike coming from Ewen Fraser . Allan Macleod the league organiser presented the Aird League Shield to Tarradale and certificates via the team captains to all the players that participated over the four weeks   .

The third round of the Aird league was played at Balgate, in the opening match Boleskine lost  to Beauly one nil , the second match against Tomnacross we went down by two goals to nil . Against Glenurquhart we lost by one goal to nil and in our last game of the evening, Tarradale defeated us by one goal to nil . The team played well once again and all games were very tight , our the new look defence combining well together with our  midfield and forwards  unlucky not to score in each game .

Smith Park  was the venue for the second series of games in the Aird league , the first game Boleskine beat Beauly by three goals to nil, in the second game we lost to Tomnacross by the same score .The third mach against Tarradale we lost one nil and our final match against Glenurquhart we won five nil .Once again a good performance by the team, in the two matches they lost , if the break's went our way we could well have won  them both . The scorers tonight were that deadly duo, Donnie Forbes with five goals and  Ewen Fraser with three .

At Braeview Park on 1 Sep Boleskine entered a six a side team  in this years the Autumn Aird league, the competing teams being Beauly, Tarradale Glenurquhart, Tomnacross , Kirkhill and Boleskine . The Round robin competition will be played over four nights at  different venues . The night's results were Beauly 1 Boleskine 1 , Boleskine 2 Tomnacross 1 , Boleskine 0 Tarradale 3 , Kirkhill 1 Boleskine 0 and Boleskine 6 GlenUrquhart 1 .The team acquitted themselves well considering the lack of training or  match practice in recent weeks and left the field of play  in the final game deservedly chuffed with their performance . The scorers on the night were Ewen Fraser five goals , Donnie Forbes three goals & Mark Thompson one goal

Boleskine entered an U12 team in the In the Allanmore Cup at the Army Sports hall  in Fort George on 8th Jan. This was the one of the qualifying cups for the National U12 Championship.  Drawn in League one along with Kirkhill, Tarradale & Strathglass, Boleskine narrowly lost the first game against Kirkhill by two goals to one after Reece Munro had given them the lead . In the second game against Tarradale an other goal from Reece Munro secured a one nil victory . In the final group game Boleskine defeated Strathglass by three goals to nil, scorers Alister Chisholm , Ross Ferrier  and Reece Munro to leave League one with three teams on four points.   .After much confusion and deliberation the organisers decided to have Boleskine, Kirkhill & Tarradale  replay each other to decide who would go through as all teams also had the same goal difference . Boleskine  had no success in the replay games losing them both by two goals to nil, Tarradale progressed out of League one by winning on penalties against Kirkhill  . In the final Tomnacross retained the cup by defeating Tarradale in the Final .  An excellent display by by the Boleskine youngsters , who with a bit of luck would have progressed to compete in their first final.

 Season 2005

U14 North LD2   Results

Saturday   2 July    Inverness 6 a sides  U14

Boleskine U14  were  grouped alongside Genurquhart , Beauly and Kilmallie , in the first game against the Glen we lost by two goals to nil , in the second game against Beauly we competed better but were unfortunate to lose by one goal to nil . The final game against Killmallie we succumb to two late goals against a bigger and stronger team , Glenurquhart went on to be runners up to Lovat in the final game

27 June   Inverness B 5 Boleskine B  0

The opening exchanges were fairly even, however Inverness went ahead in 12 minutes and in twenty minutes added a second. Just before halftime Boleskine conceded a penalty for  kicking the ball, though John Fraser made a valiant attempt to save the shot, Inverness secured their third goal before half time .

After half time Boleskine were on the defensive for the majority of the time, but defended better with Shane Mason outstanding , in the few breakaways that came our way in this period , we could not find a way through to goal   . Inverness pressure eventually told, scoring twice before the finish .

20 June   Caberfeidh 7 Boleskine B  0

Boleskine came up against a strong Caberfeidh team at Castle Leod ,who scored after five minutes and had the better of the first half scoring another two prior to the break . The early part of the second half we did mount a few attacks but with no success , the home team again were more decisive in front of goal and were rewarded by four more before the end . The Boleskine boys stuck well to their task until the final whistle, but Cabers overall strength told in the end.

14 June   Boleskine B  6 Strathglass 1

Boleskine settled first and took the lead through an Andrew Matheson low drive, Ten minutes later Simon  Fraser was on hand to net the rebound of the keeper, from a Ewen Fraser shot .  Ewen Fraser then scored with a good shot from fifteen yards, and Andrew Matheson completed the first half scoring with a long shot from thirty yards. In the first minute of the second half Lawrence Parrot scored with good strike and within three minutes Harry Stoppard drove home a low shot from twenty yards . This ended the Boleskine scoring thought they created several chances through the half, Strathglass too were producing openings but were foiled by James Fraser on several occasions, but managed a deserved consolation goal in the final minute.

7 June   Lovat 9 Boleskine A  0

Boleskine playing their second game on consecutive nights, lost an early goal before they settled, then suffered a further setback five minutes later when Anne Butterworth retired with a hand injury and their only sub was brought into play . The Boleskine defence were under a lot of pressure from eager Lovat forwards held their own for a period but by half time had conceded another two goals. In the second period the team came to the game more with several promising moves but tired as the half went on due to lack of subs and lost several goals near the end.

 June   Boleskine  0 Lochaber  12

In the 2nd round Macmaster Cup tie , Boleskine were no match for a very strong physical Lochaber team who dominated the game from the start and it was constant pressure on the home defence throughout the game . Lochaber in this form look to be likely winners of the trophy, Boleskine boys battled on till the end giving it their all , special mention to the defence who stuck to their task throughout the seventy minutes.

24 May Glenurquhart 7 Boleskine A  0

Boleskine lost two early goals to an Glen side who settled earlier and the defence were fully stretched  to keep the eager home forwards at bay, but they conceded another couple of goals by half time . Following the break the pattern remained the same and James Fraser again shone in the Boleskine goal, but was beaten three times . Late in the half we did create a couple of chances but did not manage a consolation goal.

17 May  Boleskine A  1 Lovat 7

Against a strong Lovat side the home side played well, the defence in particular performing very well in front of goalkeeper James Fraser who had an outstanding match. The score was level at 0-0 after 20 minutes; however in a 10 minute period the visitors scored 4 times before the break.

The Boleskine forwards had few chances but Andrew Matheson pulled a goal back shortly after the restart, Lovat then going on to score a further three times and being foiled on several occasions by the home goalie. Match reporter Simon Fraser

26 April Boleskine A  2 Glenurquhart 2

The first half Boleskine had slightly the better of the play but Glenurquhart opened the scoring midway through the half . Boleskine had missed a couple of chances before Andrew Sumner scored twice, both goals long range shots high into the net. Glenurquhart had more of possession in the second period and equalized but Boleskine held out for the draw and with a bit of luck could have snatched the winner.

25 April  Strathglass 6 Boleskine B 0

Boleskine B with a team made up predominantly of primary school age had their first league run out at Cannich. The first half was fairly even and we were a bit unfortunate to be down by two goals, as we had a couple of chances to score . The second period Strathglass had the better of the chances and scored four, though the team tired near the end of the game , they never gave up and contesting the game to the finish .

19 April Beauly 3 Boleskine A 0

Boleskine commenced the new league campaign at Beauly with five players missing from last years successful side, however the team put in a sterling defensive performance in the first period, when they held the home side at bay but struggled to find their feet to mount an attacking threat themselves . The second half saw us attacking a bit more but midway through the period Beauly scored and near the finish scored two more. We had couple of openings in the second half but could not finish, overall a good performance which one nil would have been a fairer reflection on the night.
