Season 2004
The final round of the Aird league matches was played at Kiltarlity on 23 Sep .The results were Boleskine 0 Glenurquhart 2, Boleskine 1 Tomnacross 3 , Boleskine 0 Kirkhill 3 & Boleskine 0 Tarradale 3 . Reice Munro was the scorer against Tomnacross . Boleskine gave some of the younger and less experienced players a run out in this last round matches and they did not disappoint with their effort and endeavour throughout the night . This has been a successful format which has enabled our youngsters to compete against other teams on a regular basis .
On Sat 18 September the U12 played Beauly at Braeview Park as part of their open day , all the players who had attended training throughout the season participated in the game . In the twelve a side match the team played well and never gave up against an older and more experienced team and well deserved their two late goals scored by Ewen Fraser. The final score was nine goals to two in favour of Beauly but we were in no means outplayed as the score suggest and were unfortunate not to score in several occasions . Commemorative medals were given to the players of both teams at the end of the Open day.
The third round Aird league matches were played at Farr on 16th Sep the results were Boleskine 2 Glenurquhart 2, Boleskine 0 Tomnacross 5 , Boleskine 0 Kirkhill 4 Boleskine 2 Tarradale 2 . The scorers against Glenurquhart were Ewen Fraser and a Stewart Watson special from his own half.. A Fraser Macpherson double against Tarradale brought the team level after being two down . A good start and finish in tonight's games especially battling back to gain two draws , against Tomnacross & Kirkhill were up against stronger and more experienced players .
The second round Aird league matches were played at Drumnadrochit on 9th Sep the results were Boleskine 0 Glenurquhart 3, Boleskine 0 Tomnacross 2 ,Boleskine 0 Tarradale 2, Boleskine 0 Kirkhill 1, . The team played with a lot of effort but things did go for then , but they showed good spirit and weren't disheartened and in the last game were unlucky to lose one nil to Kirkhill
At Braeview Park on 3 Sep Boleskine entered a Six a side team in the Autumn Aird league, the other teams being Tarradale Glenurquhart, Tomnacross and Kirkhill . The Round robin competition will be played over four nights at different venues . The first game against Glenurquhart saw us take the lead by Ewen Fraser, but could not hold on going down by 4 goals to one , Against a strong Tomnacross team in the next game we went down by the same score , Fraser Macpherson scoring a consolation goal , a well earned draw one each was attained against Kirkhill, Reice Munro scoring and in the final match against Tarradale after going three goals down we pulled back two goals through Ewen Fraser but could not manage to equalise .
On the 18 June a four team twelve a side league competition with games of 25 minutes duration was held at Braeview park in Beauly . The competing teams were Beauly, Boleskine, Strathglass and Tomatin , once again we were not favoured with a dry evening . Boleskine with a couple of call off had a Tomatin player guesting for them to make up the twelve, narrowly lost the first game two goals to one against Tomatin after taking the lead through Annie Butterworth , a long shot from the middle of the park. The next game against Beauly was lost by three goals to nil with the final game going in Strathglass's favour three goals to one Alasdair Fraser (Raul) scoring our goal. In the last two games we suffered some injuries that affected the overall balance of the team, once again good commitment and endeavour by the players . The competition was won by Strathglass .
Following on from the previous successful seven a side league competition, another one was held on Fri 11 June at Smith Park, the contestants were Beauly and Boleskine with two teams and Tomatin with one team. The wet conditions did not deter the enjoyment and enthusiasm of the children during their four, ten minute league match's organised and refereed by Scott Watson, Brett Munro and Ali Urquhart. Tomatin with a couple of Boleskine players guesting for them, won the competition on eight points . In the final game Boleskine A narrowly edged out Boleskine B by one goal to nil to take second in the competition with six points to Boleskine B four .
A seven a side league tournament was held on Fri 14 May at Smith park between Boleskine, Tomatin & Kilchuimen, each club entering two teams .With games of seven minutes duration, the competition hinged on the final game with Tomatin 2 defeating Boleskine 2, by two goals to nil to top the league table with ten points, one point clear of their nearest rivals Kilchuimen 1 . Thanks to the two Boleskine U14 players Scott Watson and Ali Urquhart, who were called up at the last minute to refereed the youngsters and did so competently, throughout the competition.
This seasons second match was a friendly at Farr on Friday 7 April against Strathdearn/Tomatin, played in front of a very large and vocally enthusiastic gathering of parents and supporters from both sides, the numbers matching and probably bettering the attendance at recent MacAulay cup semi final in Inverness . This was the first time a Strathdearn/ Tomatins team had appeared on the shinty park since 1939, credit goes to their coach Kevin Thain for his hard work reviving the sport in its former stronghold . The match was evenly contested , both teams having the better of the play during some periods, but with some of the more experienced Boleskine players swaying the balance to achieve a win by eight goals to four, scorer' s were Simon Fraser 3 , Stewart Drummond 3, Ewen Fraser and Fraser Macpherson.
In our first outdoor match of the season against Beauly at Braeview on Friday 23 April a young Boleskine team played well against the home side but tired in the second half to lose by six goals to nil. In the first period the team matched Beauly and were unfortunate not to score in several occasions the goalkeeper saving the home side numerous times, whilst Beauly converted one of their few chances to lead by one goal to nil. In the second period the experience of the home side told and they took control, limiting Boleskine to only the odd time in the Beauly half . The team played well considering it was the first actual game for five of the players and two had never seen a Shinty match before .
The U12 primary school age, has resumed Shinty Coaching at Smith park Farr starting at 7pm till 8:15 pm .
On Sat 21st Feb Boleskine U12 competed in the Allanmore Cup at the Sports Centre in Dingwall. Drawn in Group2 along with Tarradale, Beauly & Glenurquhart they narrowly lost the first two games and lost heavily to the more experienced Glenurquhart team, who in turn were unfortunate to lose in the final to Tomnacross.
On Sat 26th Jan at the Inverness Sports Centre, Boleskine entered a team in the Inverness Coaching district's six a sides competition . In the first match resulted in a no scoring draw against Raigmore school , the second game was against Central school and a one all draw was the outcome . The final game against a strong Kirkhill team we lost by five goals to nil , Kirkhill went on to narrowly lose the final . The team which consisted of only three players from last years squad, played well and the experience gained, will stand them well in the future competitions .

Season 2002-03
For the past season we have being holding coaching sessions on a Thursday night at 7 pm at Farr . During the winter nights First Shinty was played in the Hall but since the light nights we have been practicing Shinty outside on Smith Park. It was the Clubs intention to enter the primary children into the Mackay Cup, and also the Bank of Scotland league, but unfortunately we had not enough children from the designated schools Stratherrick and Farr to make up a team . To compensate for this we have been holding friendly games against other teams and entered a league over the summer months .The league consisted of Tarradale, Beauly, Strathglass and Boleskine.

Season 2004
U14 North LD2 Results
12 February Boleskine 5 Lochaber 1
In the final league game of the 2004 season Boleskine U14 in front of their delighted home fans defeated Lochaber by five goals to one to clinch the U14 North Division championship .On a cold wet early afternoon Boleskine got of to the best of start's, when Andrew Sumner hit the net with a good shot after two minutes, Lochaber responded well from this early setback and the Boleskine defence had to be alert on several occasions to clear their lines. In fifteen minutes Sandy Fraser forced the ball home, after a dribble past his Lochaber marker to give Boleskine a two goal cushion . Andrew Sumner hit his second it twenty three minutes with a good breakaway with the ball cumulating in a low shot into the net . The same player two minutes later with a good run on the left side of the field, squared the ball across, to be met first time by Scott Watson to increase Boleskine's lead to four goals. Boleskine made a couple of personal changes up front for the second period and with eight minutes into it, Daniel Taylor score the best goal of the game a cracking shot from the left hand side of the field, his first ever for the club, to make it five. Lochaber seemed to come more into the match after this and Boleskine's rearguard had to be at their best to hold out, however Boleskine had several chances in the second period to increase their goal tally, including the Lochaber keeper foiling a great mid air first timer from Andrew Sumner to deny him his hat trick. With five minutes to go Lochaber scored a deserved consolation goal which made the final score five goals to one in Boleskine's favour . A good sporting game that was capably refereed by Steve Munro, mention must also be made of the very sporting address made by one of the young Lochaber players after the medal ceremony. The U14 trophy was presented to the Boleskine captain Brett Munro by Camanachd Association Chief Douglas Macintosh, and League winners medals to the team .

11 December Duncan Fraser Shield Boleskine 4 Beauly 0
Boleskine retained the Duncan Fraser shield with a 4-0 victory over visitors Beauly in a match which was closer than the score line suggests. In a frosty pitch the first half was very even but the home side lead 1-0 at the interval through a goal from Andrew Sumner. Boleskine used all their subs at half time and the second half became more one-sided as Andrew Sumner scored another two goals to complete his hat trick and Ali Matheson rounded off the victory in the dying seconds. Both teams where presented with medals and the man of the match award went to the Beauly left-back who had an outstanding game.
22 September Boleskine 6 Newtonmore 3
Boleskine started well and scored in three minutes by Andrew Matheson only for Newtonmore equalised two minutes later . Newtonmore took the lead in seventeen minutes but Boleskine made it two all through Paddy Bryden a minute later . Boleskine were finding it difficult to get the better of a hard working young Newtonmore side who were much faster to the ball and had good clean hitters of the ball throughout the team . The second period started with Newtonmore once again on the ascendancy and scored three minutes into the half . Boleskine tried but didn't seem to break through their opponents rearguard until an Andrew Sumner shot midway through the half drew them level. Two minutes later Boleskine scored the best goal of the match when Liam Tailor scored with a shot from twenty yards following good leading up play to take the lead. The game was far from over an it was only in the closing minutes that Boleskine could relax after Scot Watson scored two identical goals in quick succession, a mazy dribble through the centre of the defence followed by a pass into the net .
18 September Beauly 0 Boleskine 1 Scorer Andrew Sumner
This friendly match was played at Braeview Park as part of their Junior Shinty Club open day. All the available U14 squad were given a run out during part of the game . Boleskine had the better of the play throughout the game and it was only an Andrew Sumner goal that separated the teams at the close . The players of both teams were given medals to commemorate the event.
13 September Boleskine 4 Inverness South 0 Scorers Scott Watson 2 Simon Fraser & Sandy Fraser
The game started very slowly with nothing much between the two teams. Boleskine's superior strength and height advantage counted for nothing against Inverness' strong desire to win. The first 35 minutes were a "ding-dong" affair with play swinging from end to end with no clear cut chances. The sides turned around after no scoring and the half time arrival of Paddy Bryden, after missing a train from Kinloss, seemed to settle the Boleskine team. He slotted in at his usual Full Centre and immediately took the game by the scruff of the neck, supplying useful balls to the forward line. Scotty Watson drilled the first goal home after some fine lead up work by Lawrence Parott. This was quickly followed by a second from substitute Simon Fraser, from the edge of the box. Sandy Fraser added Boleskine's third with a deft flick of the wrist to steal the ball from the opposing defenders club. The scoring was wrapped up with 8 minutes to go from the caman of Scott Watson to complete a good nights work. . Best performers for Boleskine tonight were Paddy Bryden, Brett Munro , Ali Urquhart & Gary Ferrier.
11 September:- Boleskine v Kingussie Cancelled points to Boleskine
Kingussie unable to raise a team, points to Boleskine
4 September :- Lochaber1 Boleskine 1 Scorer Andrew Sumner
Boleskine were under some early pressure as Lochabers big, strong team pushed forward. Having weathered this early flurry we began to take command of the midfield with Paddy Bryden in outstanding form and took the lead in 14mins as Andrew Sumner lashed home from twenty yards. The game was very evenly matched at this point, with Boleskine having the wind advantage. The play raged from end to end with no-one giving any quarter which ensured a very exciting first period with no more scoring. Anyone couldn't have hoped for a repeat of the great first half but the second period turned out to be even better, with play continuing to go from one end to the other, due to good hitting from both teams. The game was stopped after twenty mins of the second half after Brett Munro sustained a nasty gash in the cheek from a flailing caman. He was rapidly patched up and proceeded to move up to full forward with the outstanding Ali Urquhart moving to full back. This young star of the future seems to excel in every position he plays in and today performance just backed this up. Just as it was looking like a good away win for Boleskine, Lochaber popped up with a late equaliser, much to the dismay of the Boleskine team and supporters, after the goal judge changed his mind after earlier flagging for an offside decision. Best players for Boleskine today were Ali Urquhart, Paddy Bryden, Scott Watson & Lawrence Parott.
30 August :- Beauly 2 Boleskine 4 Scorers Scott Watson 2, Andrew Sumner & Ali Matheson
After almost eight weeks without a game Boleskine renewed their league campaign with a bang, when Scott Watson received the ball twenty five yards out, dribbled past a couple of defenders and the keeper, then passed the ball into the net to open our account in the first minute. In twelve minutes an Andrew Sumner shot from twenty yards made it two nil to Boleskine .There was no more scoring in the first period, with both teams having opportunities to score.
In the second half Boleskine had more of the early play but chances fell to both sides, then in fifty three minutes Beauly scored to open the game up again and lift their hopes . However this was short lived, when four minutes later from a short bye hit which was picked up by Daniel Taylor, who set up Ali Matheson to restore the two goal cushion from close in . In the sixty seventh minute Beauly scored again, but Scott Watson had the last word in the final minute with a second goal, very similar to his opener to secure the points.
3 July :- Boleskine U14 Quaich at Smith Park Farr
Boleskine enter three teams into the tournament at Farr, the A team were drawn in group A and the B & C in Group B . Both the B & C team's were fully stretched against older and more experienced opponents and in the club derby the C team came out on top with Kevin Hepburn scoring the only goal. The A team progressed through the league stages beating both Newtonmore & Strathglass by five goals to nil, Aberlour and Beauly by one nil and narrowly lost the last league fixture by one goal to nil to Lovat B . In the semi final they beat Caberfeidh by two goals to nil reaching the Final against Lovat A.
The final saw Boleskine going down to Lovat A by three goals to one, in a hard fought game which the team came back from two goals down to be going for the equaliser, only to lose a third goal to the last strike of the ball . A great performance by the team, who just failed narrowly at the final hurdle to take the prize, the goal scorers were Scott Watson 6, Andrew Sumner 5, Laurence Parrot 3 and Brett Munro .
26 June :- Ken Ross Trophy six a sides at Bught park Inverness
Boleskine entered two teams for this competition, a more experienced A team and a younger B side . The B side were in a group containing last years winners Glenurquhart Kyleakin and Inverness A the boys played well ,but unfortunately went down in all their games to more experienced teams.
The A team drew the first game one all against Caberfeidh, the second match against Glengarry they won by six goals to nil. In the final group match the accounted for Lochcarron by four goals to nil to set up a semi final tie against Inverness A. In a close and keenly contested game that saw Boleskine came from behind to equalise and force the game into five minutes time , unfortunately Inverness scored the vital goal to reach the final, which they won against Lovat on penalty's. Both Boleskine teams played well, the A team were unlucky not to reach the final which shows how the team have improved in the last year.
22 May :- Boleskine 3 Kinlochshiel 2 Scorer Andrew Matheson 2, Andrew Sumner
In an good overall team performance against the league leaders Kinlochshiel, Boleskine overcame the more experienced opponents by three goals to two avenging their earlier defeat at Kirkton. Boleskine started well, with Paddy Bryden harnessing the threat from Kinlochshiel's best player Neil Fraser, and the defence containing visiting team's attackers, Andrew Sumner burst through Kinlochshiel's back line in fifteen minutes and placed the ball into the net from close range. Playing well we could have had another couple of goals prior to half time with some of the chances that were available
to us, but Kinlochshiel were still looking dangerous. After the break Boleskine upped the pace and great snap shot from Andrew Matheson in the thirty eighth minute made it two, the same player struck again four minutes later with long high shot from twenty yards into the roof of the net. Kinlochshiel were far from finished, and struck back with a good shot from fully forty yards by Neil Fraser, five minutes later they reduced the Boleskine's advantage to one goal from a close in shot. Just when it looked as though Kinlochshiel would manage to draw level the Boleskine lads resolve to avenge the previous defeat shone through as they weathered the storm to gain full points . A good result the only black mark being, was the commencement of the game fifteen minutes prior to intimated and advertised time of 12 noon, resulted in some spectators missing almost half the first period.
8 May :- Boleskine 3 Lovat 8 Scorer Ali Matheson 2, Andrew Sumner.
In the first round MacMaster cup tie at Farr against the experienced Lovat team, Boleskine found themselves three goals down in ten minutes, a counter by Ali Matheson in eighteen minutes raised home hopes. But a couple of further strikes by Lovat in a two minute spell around twenty five minutes saw the visitors leading by five goals to one at half time . Lovat increased their lead by a further two goals in 50 minutes, before Boleskine hit back with a goal apiece from Ali Matheson and Andrew Sumner. Lovat scored their last goal with a couple of minutes to go, overall it was a good performance from the team against the club leading the U14 North Div 1, in the second half we matched them for periods and the defence marshalled by Ali Urquhart and Brett Munro, got to grips with the eager Lovat forwards, whilst our our forwards were unlucky on severally occasions. For the second night running there was a large crowd attending the match, who all enjoyed the nights entertainment .
3 May :- Newtonmore 0 Boleskine 4 Scorer Andrew Sumner 3, Ali Matheson.
In their best performance of the season so far Boleskine won 4-0 at the Eilan. Leading 2-0 at the interval thanks to goals by Andrew Sumner and Ali Matheson, Boleskine dominated the game and Sumner completed his hat-trick with some style.
26 April :- Boleskine 2 Beauly 2 Scorer Andrew Sumner 2 .
A close and exciting sporting game at Smith Park ended in a draw, which was a fair result to both teams, either whom could have secured the two points. Beauly opened the scoring in 10 minutes and an Andrew Sumner double in 23 & 25 minutes, who was switched to wing centre prior to scoring, gave Boleskine the lead at half time . Five minutes after the restart, Beauly netted following indecision in the Boleskine defence, and although both teams had chances, neither could secure the goal to win the match.
19 April :- Kingussie 1 Boleskine 5 Scorers Andrew Sumner 2, Andrew Matheson 2 & Scott Watson
Boleskine were leading 2-1 at the interval, thanks to goals from Andrew Sumner and a long range effort from Scot Watson.
After the break an Andrew Matheson double and a further goal from Sumner made the final score 5-1 to Boleskine on an excellent
playing surface
2 April :- Kinlochshiel 6 Boleskine 1 Scorer Scott Watson
Boleskine
found themselves thee nil down at half time against a very strong
Kinlochshiel side. After the break Scot Watson gave Boleskine a lifeline
but late on Kinlochshiel scored three quick goals to make the final score
6-1 a score line which wasn’t reflected in the balance of play
13 March :- Friendly Boleskine 2 Beauly 3 Scorer Andrew Sumner 2 .
A friendly arranged to give the players not involved each week a run out, half time score was two nil to Boleskine, but in the second half Beauly came more into the game and scored three without reply.
6 March :- Inverness South 1 Boleskine 10 . Scorers Andrew Sumner 4, Paddy Bryden 2, Andrew Matheson 2, Simon Fraser & Garry Ferrier.
A satisfactory start to the new season an Andy Sumner goal in the 2nd minutes settled the team and they dominated the game to lead 5-0 at half time . The second half display followed the same pattern with the best goal of the game being the last, a long range shot by Paddy Bryden

The U14 entered the annual 5 a side indoor shinty competition at Aviemore the same format as the U12 The team played well winning some games and narrowly losing the others . A nine a side competition involving Boleskine, Inverness and Lovat was entered the top two teams progressing into the next stage of the competition . The first round at Kiltarlity , the Inverness team did not arrive so Boleskine and Lovat played a friendly match . The next week at the Bught Inverness, Boleskine lost to Lovat and drew with Inverness . The Final round was at Farr where Boleskine lost to both teams so they did not progress further in the competition .
